 Refreshments and check-in start one half hour before each training.

Union representatives are often available with information and to answer your questions about union benefits before each class.

Class Schedule

GRIEF AND LOSS – 3 ½ hours

Understanding the process of grief, loss, and mourning.

PROTECT AGAINST SPRAINS AND STRAINS – 3 ½ hours
Basic principles of body mechanics and making changes in work activities to protect yourself and others.

PREVENTING DISEASE TRANSMISSION – 2 hours
Universal precautions, infection control, and housekeeping practices.

SAFETY FIRST

Do you practice safety on the job?  Protecting yourself as well as your employer is important!
Here are a few tips:

• Use gloves and protective equipment when handing chemical substances or blood &/or body fluids
• Know your emergency evacuation escape routes
• Don’t use broken equipment
• Make sure smoke detectors are in place and are working
• Use ladders instead of chairs if you need to reach high places
• Lift safely
• Wear sturdy shoes
• Keep floors free of tripping hazards, such as cords, non-secured rugs, or clutter

Assisting Aging Parents	This class is for those who are facing, or will face, decisions about caring for a loved one. What are the options for Assisted Living, or a nursing home, or daycare? What will it cost? How do I find it? Class is free, but you must register at 503-491-7571.
Powerful Tools for Caregiving	This class is an educational program designed to help family caregivers take care of themselves while caring for an older relative or friend. You will benefit from this class whether you are helping a parent, spouse or friend, whether they live at home, in a nursing home or across the country. Class size is limited and registration is required. An optional book is available for purchase at $22 at the first class.
