New!!! Consumer Training

The Home Care Commission is working with the State Independent Living Council to provide training for consumers of in-home services. These trainings are done one-to-one or in group sessions. Trainings cover topics such as how to be an employer, rights and responsibilities of the consumer/employer, recruiting and interviewing a homecare worker, working with the task list, communication skills and more. Consumers will receive a gift certificate when participating.

Centers for Independent Living around the state are conducting these trainings and are available to make home visits to people unable to get to a training.

Please pass this information on to your employers. If they are interested in knowing more, they may call call the State Independent Living Council at 503-945-6706 or 1-877-277-0513 and ask for information about STEPS training.
